I was lucky to find a small 2nd hand hackle more or less by accident - bought it and use it quite often to blend fibres, esp. when I don't want to blend very evenly! and you can also use it as a "comb" if you want to open the tips of a slightly matted fleece! very useful - I don't know why most spinners just use a drum carder...
